Picked up my bike from the bike shop Friday. Took it out for the first ride yesterday. It was great to finally get back in the saddle. It’d been three weeks and two days since I’d last ridden. Other than a pesky tick I’ve yet to track down, the bike is as good as new…other than a few scratches. The scratches will serve as reminders of how quickly things can go wrong.
I could definitely tell I hadn’t been on the bike in three weeks. I am in my off season, so the long break will probably do me good. Time to start cranking out the base miles.
I started back running last week and it has gone well. I’ve yet to get back in the pool. That’ll come tomorrow. Swimming will be the true test of the functional readiness of my arm. Hopefully it will go well.
Some of my riding pals have been urging me to get a mountain bike for the off season. Seeing how I still have a few good bones left to break, I decided to give in and ordered a mountain bike last week. It’s a Gary Fisher Tassajara. Very much an entry level mountain bike. I’m stoked about getting off road and giving it a go. I’ll post up some pictures soon.
