I'VE GOT THE ITCH!!!

Literally.
I can’t freakin stop scratching.
My skin gets really dry during the winter months.
Especially my calves!!!
Swimming seems to make it worse.
Lotion helps for about an hour. Then I’m scratching again.
I’m running a humidifier at home and staying well hydrated.
But I’m still scratchin like a dog with fleas.
If anyone out there in blogland has any suggestions on how to cure dry skin, please share the knowledge.

Showering right after swimming to get the cholorine off helps me. And making sure all the soaps I use are gentle. And using good lotions (will depend on your skin, but I like the vaseline intensive care ones, especially the green with aloe one and then yellow for super dry skin one). Keeping my fingernails short helps. Wearing soft clothing materials so that they aren't irratating it. And when it gets really bad (usually on my hands) I will even use a prescription lotion from my doc.

Good luck! I have a chronic dry skin condition, and before it was under control I was going CRAZY!!

I really really love using Trader Joe's grapefruit chamomile sea salt scrub (this person even blogged about it, so you can see what I'm talking about: http://www.bonbonsinthebath.com/2006/09/29/review-trader-joes-grapefruit-chamomile-sea-salt-scrub/ ) I especially use it every time I swim, it scrubs off the chlorine and contains a lot of great oils like almond oil. It's definitely the business!

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll give them a shot.
Jay, I'm not a Marine. I work for DoD aboard a Marine installation. Thanks for your service.
