Saddle Mounted Hydration - Need Recomendations

I need the ability to carry more hydration on the bike as my rides get longer. I have two cages mounted on the frame and a aerodrink bottle mounted on my aerobars. That leaves one option, behind the seat.

I've got it narrowed down to the Xlab Saddlewing system. Before ordering however, I'd like to hear from anyone out there using this system, pros and cons. Or if you are using another option that you think would work better, I'd like to hear about that as well.

Thanks!

TJ

I suppose the Camelbak is not an option? I really like Dee Dee's little back pack. Better than my waist thingee as a matter of fact. I'll be back to check on what suggestions you get...

I have the Flatwing and got it for free from a bro who moved up to the Saddlewing. He loves it by the way.

I love the Flatwing, too. I would recommend the kit from Tri-sports, as it is a kickin way to keep all of your stuff.

The only "downer", which is relative to each rider, is you have to be careful when you get off the bike to swing your leg OVER the bottles. In my case, with short legs, I just step over the center bar.

Sweet item. A close second would be the Aquarack by Profile Design. You have to have a round seatpost, tho.

Email if you need some more specifics.

I have used an Xlab before. Works well, however beware of bottle ejections if you ride on rough roads.

I never liked reaching behind me (had to always slow down a lot, particularly when putting the bottle back) so I just go with a Camelbak on my long training rides.

My husband does use saddle mounted system (he's got 2 different brands) and has had the same problems already mentioned -- getting his leg over the bike (has to really lean his bike over since he's not very flexible) and bottles ejecting over rough spots.

Good luck in finding what works for you.

I used the NeverReach system on my long rides last year and at IMFL. I really loved that I didn't have to do one single bottle exchange during the race. I refilled it once, at the special needs stop.
